The perfect way to relax

After a busy few weeks (as always with me, I never seem to have a minute!), it was lovely to take a day off of work mid-week to celebrate my mums’ 50th birthday and treat us both to a spa day.

I have never been for a proper spa day and I felt like this is really what I needed. I would recommend it to anyone who’s feeling a bit stressed, down or just in need of some essential me-time! What I would suggest before booking directly through the spa is looking at some trusted websites that offer deals – such as itison5pmWowcher and Groupon – they offer different deals every week and I found a brilliant one for Mar Hall Golf Resort & Spa, a five star hotel with a fabulous Decléor spa. I booked their Time Out package and had the most amazing time.

Mar Hall in itself is a spectacle. The old building sitting on luscious grounds surrounded by 240 acres of authentic woodland lies n a quiet corner of Bishopton, near the Erskine Bridge. You can find the exact location here. Just 10 minutes form Glasgow International Airport, Mar Hall is perfect if you’re coming to Glasgow or surrounding areas on business, for a mini-break or just for pleasure and have some time to spare! It really is such a tranquil and mesmerising environment and the beautiful hills and River Clyde protect the grand Scottish building.

The Decléor spa is a luxurious little building that follows on from the grand main building through a corridor. The Time Out package consists of 55 minute treatment time which involves an Aroma Back Relief Massage and a Time Precious Facial – can I just say, the treatments were amaaaazing! The Decléor products used were unbelievable and you can definitely see why this spa gets five stars. I don’t want to give too much away because I want you to experience it for yourself but the girl who completed my treatments gave me some great skin advice and told me what would be best for my back (it’s always tight and knotty!). The day also includes a light lunch (soup and a fancy sandwich) and unlimited use of the facilities such as the beautiful relaxing pool, sauna, steam room and brilliant little fully-equipped gym. You also get fluffy robes and slippers, here are my mum and I modelling them!

The staff at the spa were so friendly, they were attentive but without being overwhelming. As soon as we came into the spa they were very helpful and explained and showed us where everything was (our treatments were booked for 1.30pm but we went for 11am to get a FULL day of using the facilities – why not?!)

My favourite part about the Mar Hall spa was one hundred per cent the Relaxation Room. Ugh! How do I even describe this place?! It was like a meditation haven! A perfect little area to chill in, I genuinely have never felt so relaxed. With cold water with lemon or orange, perfectly brewed fruit tea and dried fruit available outside, it is a great option to sit and have a break. The room is dark, only lit by candlelight. The candles flicker round the side of the room in different coloured stained glass lanterns, and in the middle of the room candles flicker in the protective arms of a large stone Bhudda who guards the room and creates an overwhelming sense of peace. There are loungers with blankets and pillows in the room, and it is the most perfect temperature for sitting in a robe and slippers. Soothing music – great for meditating – plays from the corner and it is silent apart from that (and the occasional deep breath and snore from those who have fallen asleep)! It is simply wonderful. The lighting isn’t great for pictures and I didn’t want to disturb the peace by using a flash, but here is a picture of the room.

If you are in the need of some serious chill in the Glasgow area, Mar Hall is the place to go. If you’re not from here and you want some me-time, I would definitely recommend a spa day!

I am soooooo relaxed <3

Keep smiling 🙂
