Supergirl Take Two!

So my second challenge for Cash for Kids Superhero Day?

A cycle round the beautiful island of Cumbrae from Millport, a local town with West FM – Radio Clyde’s sister station in Ayrshire.

To get to Millport, we had to take the ferry from Largs – a small town in Ayrshire – and it was a beautiful day so the scenes were phenomenal!

When we reached the island, we learned that we would be cycling on a 7-seater conference bike until we reaches a £2,000 target for Cash for Kids.

The conference bike is the only one in Scotland, and was hired from On Your Bike, Millport and it does exactly as it says on the tin – seven seats, seven sets of pedals and one wheel… Simples?!

“7-seater conference bike? I’ll just sit back, relax and let everyone else do the work!” is what we were ALL thinking… And totally underestimated how hard it would be! We all equally and to pull our weight and ended up cycling a total of thirty miles – three times round the island.

It was a real challenge, tough mentally and physically – my legs and bum are in agony! The bike had no gears and so it was a huge effort from us all to get it up the hills, but going down them was a huge relief!

All of us were pushed to our limits and although it was a beautiful day the sun did not help with the heat – and the burn! But when we found out we had reached our target we could have mentally broken down we were just so happy and grateful that people had supported us along the way! I cannot thank you and the team enough.

I was so proud of myself after the weekend for accomplishing goals for a charity I am so passionate about and proud and thankful to everyone who helped and donated and even though I am so sore – it was SO worth it <3!

This is me tonight…

Supergirl is KNACKERED!
